We are honoured to catch up with Deb from Fabulous Places who has curated the most beautiful
Scandi Rustic Family Home in the Peak District.
Tell us about your home and what makes it personal to you.
Our home is filled with things we have collected over the years, with many having a story or a lovely memory of when it was bought. The interior is neutral with lots of natural light and textures. Comfort is most important, everything in our home is useful or holds a special memory. Photos play an important part of our home, reminders of special memories, family holidays and our dog.
How would you describe your interior style?
Natural light, neutral colours and space… three things I love.
Out of all the interior styles, I would say our home has elements of a Scandinavian style. I love natural textures, light, bright spaces and function. Everything in our home is used regularly and serves a purpose, even if that purpose is to look pretty!
Over the years I have purchased items for our home from a variety of places including vintage/salvage shows, Loaf, Cox & Cox, White Company and most of our most favourite pieces are from small independent businesses. The Markets I curate are the perfect place for me to find unique items for our home. Home, for us, is a place to relax, feel safe and comforted.
Do you have a favourite room? What makes it special?
My favourite space has to be our kitchen. It’s painted white, helping it feel spacious and airy. I love shutters and after searching for the right window solution for the two sets of double doors we have, I went for shutters that can create privacy or be opened to create two large windows looking out into our garden. We all tend to gravitate to the kitchen, especially when we have visitors, it’s a social space that works so well for gatherings. The kitchen is also my go to work space, I love basing myself at the kitchen table where I can look out into the garden… it’s also close to the coffee machine!
What one piece of design/styling advice would you give?
A home is a sanctuary, a place to relax and feel as ease. Be true to your own style and surround yourself with things you love.
What piece from Jord home do you have your eye on?
I’m loving the Braided Natural Rug, it’s a great shape and perfect for lots of spaces, I think it would work perfectly in our office.
